Hancock's Half Hour

Hancock's Half Hour was one of the first sitcoms on British radio; breaking with the traditional variety-esque structure of most radio comedy to focus on the character and his life.

HHH introduced down-at-heel Anthony Aloysius St John Hancock and his chipper cockney mate Sid James. Hancock lived at the dilapitated 23 Railway Cuttings, East Cheam but longed to improve himself. It was usually his very ambition that got him in to trouble.

HHH ran from 1955 to 1959, when it tranferred to its even more successful television run.
